This plan sets out the actions Defra will take to stop the decline of the River Wye and support the ongoing local efforts to fully restore it in the long term.

The plan includes 9 commitments to:聽聽

• appoint a locally based River Champion聽
• provide up to 拢35 million for poultry manure combustors in the River Wye SAC 肠补迟肠丑尘别苍迟听
• amend, subject to consultation, the Environmental Permitting Regulations聽
• help farmers retain more nutrients and soil in the field with funding for sustainable farming practices聽
• pilot the use of on-farm micro anaerobic digesters聽
• more than double grant approvals for slurry stores聽
• work with partners on 2 landscape recovery projects in the 肠补迟肠丑尘别苍迟听
• provide funding for 2 projects delivered with local partners in the next year聽
• carry out cross-border research on mitigating phosphate pollution in the unique geography of the area
